Well, we know we disappointed yesterday with no pictures so we will try to make up for that today. Olivia has been very entertaining and has kept the three of us in stitches. If you’ll remember yesterday’s blog; John described Olivia’s sleep habits. So, here’s a picture of that event we affectionately entitled “sleeping acrobat.” Despite her falling to sleep rituals she has been sleeping through the night and Karis has had to wake her nearly every morning. Even still Olivia wakes up happy - truly incredible.
When in China, you do as the Chinese do…that is you dress them in multiple layers of clothing that don’t match at all. As you can see, Karis has fallen into this pattern. Thankfully there are many wonderful clothes awaiting Olivia once she gets home. The last photo is one of my personal favorites.
Since the beginning Olivia has been known to flash cheesygrins. Sometimes they come out of no where and every time they make us crack up. Karis is blessed to have such a cheerful, happy baby. Even though she is quite happy she still can throw a tantrum and scream and make noise with the best of them. In fact, her grandma has described her as Bam Bam. Thankfully, there have been none so long or as bad as that first one.
And finally, we are including a bonus. Yes, you get to watch another video of dancing baby. This was taken this afternoon while eating at McDonalds. She is the only one I know who can get three adults to dance along and look totally silly in a public setting.
As for tomorrow (Saturday), we will first be going to see the doctor. I mean first thing is we’ll be going to Starbucks :) Then we’ll go to the doctor. This is standard for all of the adopted babies. We are glad, because if we had to guess, we’d say Olivia has an ear infection. She’s constantly pulling on her right ear. She also definitely has a little cold and a pretty deep cough. Hopefully we can get some of that cleared up before we leave on Wednesday.
After that we get to go do some shopping. It is much easier to have food in the room and eat here once in a while. Oh yeah, more peanut butter crackers and Ramin Noodles. We’re not sure what the rest of our time here looks like yet, but we’ll keep you posted as we know. Thanks again for your comments. It is just as fun for us to read those as I’m sure it is for you to read the blog.
With great joy,
Christine

Karis, Olivia, Christine, John – Hope you’re enjoying warm, sunny weather in Guangzhou and everyone is feeling better.
There’s a great restaurant very close to the White Swan. It’s called Lucy’s. Go out the hotel’s front door and turn right. It’s one short block away. It’s very peaceful eating at their outdoor patio.
Check out Jennifer’s Place, too. It’s across the street from the White Swan and a little ways down the block on the left side of the street (if memory serves me correctly after 3 ½ years). They let parents borrow umbrella strollers. Check out their free “pharmacy”. Adoptive parents leave all kinds of medications there because they don’t want to take up space in their luggage to bring back all the stuff they brought with them. You might be able to find Nyquil or other medications to help you feel better. Also, don’t forget to drink lots of bottled water to fight your colds. It’s easy to forget since you can’t drink the tap water.
We love reading about your trip and seeing the photos of Olivia and company. Before you know it, you’ll be on a plane winging your way home to Minneapolis. We can’t wait to hear about your trip and meet Olivia in person.
Know that you’re in our prayers every night at supper,
Margaret, Tim & Jenna
P.S. Karis, you are so blessed to have John and Christine share this incredible journey with you.
She is just so precious! Isn't it amazing how a smile from a child can change your life?
Enjoy Guangzhou - we sure did! Lily & Sarah at Jessica's will give you good deals - it is across the street from the White Swan. Coco at the Family of Love (or something like that) next to the White Swan will also take good care of you. If you need an additional piece of luggage for the trip home - she is the one to buy it from!
Taylan loves looking at pictures of her new friend so she will be thrilled that there are more up today and a video too!
See you soon!
Elizabeth & Taylan
Thanks for the update. Enjoy the sun, clear air and bake those colds out for your trip home. It has been gray here the last few days so hope you bring sunshine back with you. The pictures and video are great. I am so glad of her happy disposition. I was checking out the zoo's website yesterday. What do you think? Something tells me your dancing, happy girl would enjoy a trip before her surgery. And of course I would love it!!!! Until our next update.
Love to all,
Luanne
Olivia is feeling the love baby!!! Thanks for sharing the pictures and video, they made me chuckle today.
Joan.
You are in the final stretch. Enjoy Guangzhou and the nice weather. The shops are fun to check out even though Malia didn't let me shop much. Lucy's is great and the deli next to the White Swan had fabulous bread. Finally, there was the Station Restaurant at the far side of the island that had great pasta, etc and you sit inside the train car. Have fun and know you will be home before you know it. P.S. The waterfall pool at the White Swan was really nice but the water was cold when we were there in April.
Thank you for more pictures. The video will not download here at school, so I look forward to viewing it when I get home.
I am also delighted to hear that Olivia has such a sunny disposition! What a blessing! Enjoy every giggle.
I hope those with colds are feeling better, and hope that Olivia's ear is okay for travel.
