In the afternoon, after our nap, we ventured out to do a little shopping. We’re staying at a Marriot and unfortunately it’s not on the island where the White Swan is so we haven’t been able to get to those great shopping or eating places yet!! (They are taking us there this afternoon though for some shopping and we think we’ll stay and eat dinner at Lucy’s and take a cab back!) We do have a tiny little mall next to the hotel (well, it’s kind of a mall….) and I was so happy to see that they had squeaky shoes! I’d heard so much about squeaky shoes and finally Olivia has a pair! It was almost like putting the red slippers on Dorothy….they went on her feet and she was transported into this happy little kid who wanted to walk and walk and walk and walk!
It’s hard to believe we leave for home in just 2 days. On one hand, it feels like we have been in China forever, on the other, the time has gone by so fast.
I have been so blessed to have two such amazing people with me, uncle John and auntie Christine. I know I’ve leaned on them a lot these past few days and they’ve been my rocks! I think I owe them both a vacation in the Bahamas now. This one has been anything but restful! It’s also been such a blessing to lean on the words and support of all you China mom’s (and dad!) who have had the same experiences. I know I will continue to learn from you and I very much look forward to watching our kids grow up together. And to ALL my dear friends and family who I know are praying and loving Olivia so much already, thank you. I can’t wait to see you and give hugs and introduce you to this little girl we affectionately refer to as “Bam Bam”.
Love,
Mommy Karis

Karis,
It is so wonderful to see you and your amazing daughter. The videos are such a blast! We watch them over and over! Emily and Grace keep saying, "I want to see another Olivia movie!" You are doing a wonderful job with her already - you're a natural! I can't wait until your back home, but it's been so great to follow along your wonderful journey! Enjoy your last couple of days!
Much love,
Noelle
Karis, Olivia, John and Christine,
My prayers are with you as you get ready to leave China soon and begin the home chapter of your adventure. Thank you again for letting all of us share in your journey. Olivia is one lucky little girl!
P.S. The Squeaky shoes video is priceless!

Maria
I am off to work and checked for an update. You did not disappoint me. Great picture of Olivia and John. I can see you framing that one. And those shoes!! I will need to hear the story behind them. They are great. The picture of Christine and Olivia is also priceless. Can't wait to see you. Enjoy your last days in China and look forward to your return.
Blessings on your day,
Luanne
Hi there! Such fun to see the squeaky shoes--I'd never heard of them, but can see the draw ;) Thinking of you and how in just a couple of days you'll be home with your daughter and starting a new life on your turf with her--it will be SO nice to be at home with her! Anyway, our prays continue for health, safety, and continued growing closer to your little one. We're amazed at how well the bonding has gone and what delightful personality Olivia has already shown you! Such a gift. Hope to see you soon--did I tell you there will be 3 Chinese speakers at THanksgiving? ;)
Love, Di and family
So, so cute! Olivia looks like a peanut for 2, how big is she? Enjoy your final days in China; a much as you will be ready to come home it is very bitersweet to leave because you know you are leaving Olivia's bith country and culture behind.
PS-- I think I'm beginning to see a family resemblance with John and Olivia..... ;)

Dear Karis and Olivia,
My class was very excited to see the message you wrote to us on Friday! We will look forward to you coming to visit us. We would like to see Olivia in person and maybe she will dance for us! And maybe we will say 'Ni Hao' (sp) for her!
Safe travels to you all!!
Mrs. Ottinger and her third grade class
Hi you guys,
Great pictures, Great video! Do those shoes actually have a squeeky thing in them? How fun!
Hey - we ran out of diapers too(pull ups for nighttime), so don't feel so bad, I'm making a Target run in a bit. I'm sure you'll be happy to get home and have some time off work to stay around the house. Can't wait to see you..when your ready!

Mary Kay
Love the squeaky shoes video. And....suddenly Karis has no upper body or head. It's all about the short people now, isn't it!? :)
I have been blessed by following along on this journey via this blog. You are in my prayers as the journey home is so near....
love,
Cindy
